Ongoing Initiatives

Mathematics & Science Institute
PELL is currently working with local mathematics and science educators to create a sustainable professional development institute to be held annually in the Greater New Orleans area. This institute is built upon the Anja S. Greer Conference held at Phillips Exeter Academy annually. The initial institute in 2005 brought together 52 educators from four different countries and eleven states. This year's institute was held at St. Martin's Episcopal school in Metairie, LA. More than 100 educators attended sessions for middle and secondary level mathematics and science teachers. A link to the institute's web page is here: Math & Science Institute

Future Initiatives

We are currently working with the emerging K-12 educational entities in the New Orleans area to offer content-related workshops to develop standards-based instruction.
